FIRMWARE UPDATE
DO NOT UPDATE your printer.
Printers using the LC-3013 and LC-3011 cartridges can be updated directly on the printer. Do NOT update the printer. The only reason manufacturers update the printers is to update the firmware. By doing so, they change a code in the printer so that you cannot use compatible cartridges and are forced to buy their OEM cartridges.
Set Firmware Auto Check to OFF.
On your printer, go to Settings>Machine Info>FirmwareAutoCheck>OFF.
Up to now, Brother has only been doing firmware updates when they manufacture a new batch of printers. However, since the firmware auto-check function is there on the printer, we ask customers to put it OFF as a precaution in case they decide to start sending firmware updates over the air (wifi).
